
This is probably my favorite photo from the entire trip. A man in a sari; two men in a tuk-tuk; a dog. They weren’t waiting for the train to go by; they were in a little cleared-out spot by a hill, just passing time.
Looking back at it now, I can almost smell the cut grass and hacked-down plants, the sting of burning gasoline, and feel the heat, tempered only slightly by the breeze that the carriages created.
