I was born in 1979, just after the Khmer Rouge were removed from power.

Anyone I met in Cambodia who was older than me would have lived through those terrible, dark years and seen or experienced the Khmer Rouge reign of terror.

It was tough to look at these men and know that they’d lived through hell.
